Keep Your Head Down.
Don't Get Noticed.
Or Else.

I'm Trella. I'm a scrub. A nobody. One of thousands who work the lower levels, keeping Inside clean for the Uppers. I've got one friend, do my job and try to avoid the Pop Cops. So what if I occasionally use the pipes to sneak around the Upper levels? The only neck at risk is my own…until I accidentally start a rebellion and become the go-to girl to lead a revolution...

My review:

First of all, I am really sorry for any mistakes in my review. English is not my native language and I suppose that there are mistakes in tenses or elsewhere.

Trella or Queen of the Pipes like nicknamed her her fellow scrubs is just one of many other scrubs. Nobody. Just another scrub. She is cleaning the pipes in Inside and trying to not to get noticed. She doesn’t trust anyone. She is cheeky and has just one friend, Cog. She likes to sleep in the pipes and being alone - that’s a reason of her nickname. She hates other scrubs and calls them sheep, mostly because they obey Population Control Police and believe in bullshit they are spreading. Soon, she is going to discover that she is not different from them.

It was fascinating to watch change in Trellas personality. She thinks that she is something more than just another scrub, she likes being alone, she is selfish and sassy. Nobody likes her and she likes nobody as well. By force of circumstances, Trell became another person. She is no longer Queen of the Pipes. She found out that she needs people around her, she made friends and became caring. Despite all of it, she stays strong heroine who you will love.

There is action from first page of the book. It all starts when Cog convinced Trella to listen to another prophet. She is distrustful of everything and everybody, but Cog is true believer. He believes that a Gateway - a way to get Outside - exists and he listens to every prophet to find more information about it. Nobody could know that this new prophet, Broken Man, will be telling the truth. Trella unwittingly became a part of something bigger and she is pulling with her many people. Trellas conversation with Broken Man starts hustle and bustle of action, tension, beliefs, unexpected disclosures and friendly and romantic relationships.

The romantic aspect of this story was a weaker one. I was still thinking when will appear a man for Trella. I wasn’t surprised when I discovered that it’s Riley, but I was quite disappointed. During the whole story I was expecting to appearance of someone more significant. The good point is that their relationship wasn’t on the front burner of the story.

I really enjoyed Inside Out by Maria V. Snyder and can’t wait to read the next door in this series. Awesome protagonists and constant tension are strong points of this book. There wasn’t moment I was bored during the reading. Still, I don’t feel to give the story 5 stars. I highly recommend Inside Out with bold 4 stars. Hope you will enjoy it like I did. J
